Build Montana – MCA Workforce Development Initiative
The Montana Contractors Association and the MCA Education Foundation have created a workforce development initiative, Build Montana, to address the immediate and long-term workforce challenges of the construction industry. Build Montana is a strategy to create a bridge between workforce and industry, and to increase the pipeline of people entering the construction industry. If you’re serious about the future workforce of our industry, check out how the MCA is working on filling the gap from school-site to jobsite!

Construction employs about 26,000 people in Montana and accounts for about $3 billion of our state’s Gross Domestic Product. Despite the influence the construction industry wields in Big Sky Country, MCA members struggle on a daily basis with attracting new, skilled employees. In fact, for every three construction workers who leave the profession, only one joins our ranks. According to the AGC’s 2018 Construction Outlook, 80 percent of firms struggle to find qualified employees. Now those are some daunting statistics!
We recognize there’s no “silver bullet” to fix this crisis; after all, it has been decades in the making. However, it’s clear we need to start somewhere! Join the MCA and the MCA Education Foundation to forge key community partnerships and encourage more Montanans to make construction a first choice for their future. #LetsBuildMT!
