MCA Calendar

ACI Testing and/or Re-Testing for Flatwork Finisher, Field Testing and Strength Testing Technician

The MCA provides ACI testing on an ongoing basis for individuals who want to take the certification exam, and for those who need to re-take a failed written exam. Prior to registering, contact Keith at (406) 442-4162 or by email to confirm locations, dates, and costs.

ACI Field Testing Technician

A two-day course that includes a review of quality concrete principles, ASTM sampling and testing methods, along with the administration of a two-part certification examination. The first day is devoted to review and discussion of the ASTM Standards and a practice session for the performance examination. The written and performance examinations will be carried out on the second day. If time allows, examinees have the option of running the actual performance exams during the practice session of the first day. Non-programmable calculators are permitted.

ACI Flatwork Finisher Technician

​This program is designed to provide a basis for certifying experienced concrete finishers, alleviate problems related to improper field practices, upgrade the quality of concrete construction and prepare the industry for mandatory certification specifications. Craftsmen who upgrade their skills and credentials through ACI certification may increase their own opportunities as well as contribute to the advancement of the industry.

NMRCA – Pervious Concrete Certification

​This one-day class will cover all aspects of pervious concrete, including mix design, batching, placing and curing. Appropriate for engineers, designers, finishers, and batch plant personnel. Upon registration, a workbook will be mailed, it is recommended that individuals take time to study the materials ahead of class.

Concrete Strength Testing

​A one-day course that includes instruction on properly performing, recording and reporting the results of four basic ASTM laboratory procedures related to the determination of concrete compressive and flexural strength. The class will review ASTM standards in the morning and take a written test before lunch. After lunch, the class will participate in performance examinations. Non-programmable calculators are permitted.

SWPPP Administrator Certification

This two-day course focuses on storm water management requirements levied by state and federal agencies for the protection of waterways during construction. Additionally, the course will offer tips and tools to simplify the permitting process.

SWPPP Administrator Re-certification

T​his Montana-produced and DEQ-certified 6-hour SWPPP Administrator Re-certification Course concentrates on administrative processes with a focus on preparation and development of the SWPPP.

AGC’s Lean Construction Program

The success of lean implementation within a construction firm is based on many factors, including how effectively it is planned and driven by individuals within a firm. This series of courses is intended for an organization’s lean champions, who will design and implement a company’s lean transformation strategy at the corporate and project levels. The courses in this program will cover:

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control

This one-day certification course covers such topics as the Three-Phase Inspection process, preparation for inspections, quality control plans, contractor and government responsibilities, submittal procedures and management of schedules.

NCCER Instructor Certification

The NCCER is the premier construction trades education organization in the country. Endorsed by the Associated General Contractors of America, Skills USA, Association for Skills and Technical Sciences, the Construction Users Round Table and others, the NCCER offers curricula in more than 47 different construction and pipeline trades. A trades instructor who successfully completes the ICTP will be authorized to utilize NCCER curricula and tests – giving Montana students a national certification and a head start toward a high-paying and satisfying job in the construction industry.

Building Information Modeling

MCA uses AGC’s BIM Education Program to familiarize contractors with this new method of conceptualizing construction projects to maximize efficiency and cost control. AGC’s BIM Education Program — developed in conjunction with leading BIM practitioners, technology firms and educators—is designed to prepare construction professionals at all experience levels to successfully implement BIM on a construction project.
